Essential Worker Week
On Wednesday, June 25, Mayor Breed issued a proclamation declaring this week Essential Workers Week in order to recognize and thank essential workers who have been the engine that has kept the city moving and our residents safe. They are healthcare workers, first responders, sanitation workers, grocery store workers, food workers, street cleaners, childcare providers, hardware store workers, utility workers, truck drivers, postal and delivery workers, community outreach workers, Disaster Service Workers, and many, many others. These workers have made significant contributions to protect residents while assuming additional risks to their own health and safety in order to serve the people of San Francisco.
Cole Hardware was especially honored by Mayor Breed’s visit to our North Beach store, where she presented our store manager, Tina Rotolo, with a proclamation certificate celebrating Essential Workers Week. Tina happily accepted the award on behalf of the entire Cole Hardware family, who have been working hard these past few months to serve our community.
This week is an opportunity to acknowledge all essential workers and remind ourselves that our actions—such as wearing a face covering, practicing social distancing, washing hands frequently, and staying home when you’re sick—can help protect our essential workers who have had to take on extra risk throughout the pandemic. Show your support and appreciation for those who have been on the front lines of keeping our communities safe and moving us to a healthier and equitable space. #EssentiallyYoursSF
